Buyers

Buying a home may be the single biggest expenditure in your life. It is important to “get it right.

Buyers come to me in many ways. Sometimes it is because they have driven by a home I have listed and it looks like something they might be interested in. Sometimes they find me on the internet and they decide I look like someone who would be interested in helping them. But most of my buyers are referred to me by friends and relatives-----people that I have helped to buy or sell over the years and who learned to trust me. I believe that getting the best home at the best price for my clients is extremely important. Even more important sometimes is helping them figure out what home that might be.

Some folks are looking for strictly investment value---they want to buy something that is going to appreciate over the years. They need to look in certain areas that have a proven track record and at a certain type of home. Usually the smallest or least expensive home in any given subdivision or area is a fairly safe bet. As the years go by it has nowhere to go but up. Unfortunately these are not always the prettiest homes or the most aesthetically pleasing. Maybe they plan to buy it and fix it up.

Some folks are looking for strictly lifestyle value. They want to enjoy the home while they live in it and that is the most important thing to them. They are not as concerned about what kind of profit they might earn when they sell. They may have special needs such as a parent living with them or a special needs child or maybe they are just very emotionally present people who are more concerned with the “here and now.”

Most people will be best served by a combination of both of these types of buying strategy. A home they can love and live in comfortably that will also be worth more when it is time to sell.

Talking to my buyers and helping them figure out which group they fit into and what choice will make them happiest is not only my job but also my pleasure. I love helping people. I love being happy to talk to them when they call me back in the future and it is time for them to sell the home I helped them buy. I am not in this business just for this sale or this moment. I want to be the realtor of choice for my families as they grow and change and need someone to help them over the course of their lives. I have a number of what I call “Dynasty Families.” These are families where I started out with one member of the family and over the years I have helped all the brother’s and sister’s families. Or the parents and all the children’s families. Or even a different kind of family---sometimes I connect with someone and before long I have worked with everyone in their office or company. Or their church family. I love the continuity and connection to all these people. I treat them like I would my own family when they come to me with a real estate need.
